Regulated Agent of the Department of Transport
Within the courier and express services industry, the achievement of Regulated Agent of the DfT is highly respected. Global Options achieved this status in 1999. Global Options acquired specific responsibilities and authority to act on behalf of the DfT, particularly with respect to maintaining high standards of security for cargo transported by air under the National Aviation Security Programme – a particularly important aspect of our service in an era of heightened worldwide risk.
Approved agent of H.M. Customs & Excise
Global Options has been granted authority to act on behalf of HMC&E with respect to import and export clearance of international air cargo. The company is allowed to operate customs clearance procedures by a Memorandum of Understanding negotiated with HMC&E by AICES (see below) on behalf of the association’s membership. This facility allows Global Options to operate a more efficient and timely customs procedure for our clients.
Accredited member of the Association of International Couriers and Express Services
Being an accredited member of AICES enables Global Options, through its representation, to have an influence on the development of, and response to, impending Government legislation as it affects the courier and express services industry (for
example, the negotiation of the MoU described above with respect to HMC&E, and to the industry’s position with respect to night flights from London Heathrow). CPD training in crucial operational areas of the business, such as dangerous goods awareness, is also available to employees of member companies.
Certification under the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System
Global Options’ ISO 9001:2000 certification within the UK has been gained through meticulous attention to the development of working and managerial processes that ensure to the greatest degree possible that the service we provide is continuously improving, and that our clients are completely satisfied with those services. For example, the current annual client survey determined that Global Options is in the top 2% of companies in the UK tested by the system, achieving an exceptional overall customer satisfaction index score of 91%.
Accredited member of the Federation Against Copyright Theft
Global Options deals with and ships a significant amount of copyrighted material. Accredited membership of FACT illustrates our commitment and responsibility to safeguarding the integrity of copyrighted items such as films and DVDs. FACT and its members make every effort to combat copyright theft and assist public enforcement agencies in fulfilling their duties.
Member of the Federation of Small Businesses
The FSB is the largest campaigning pressure group protecting and promoting the interests of companies such as Global Options. Our membership in the FSB enables us to gain access to a range of professional guidance, which ultimately helps us to safeguard ours and our clients’ business interests.
